Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein. Protein makes up the substance and structure of muscle and other tissues or organs of the body. Hence, in order to synthesize more muscle tissue in response to training stress, or recovery from injury, the availability of amino acids in the diet is indispensable for everyday metabolic functioning and especially in supporting an active lifestyle.

Nitro-E8™ is a unique formulation of Free Form Amino Acid in specific ratios and at such a high oral bioavailability that once absorbed the athlete benefits from superior nitrogen delivery and assimilation. The most recent and cutting edge research in Sports Nutrition has shown that availability of amino acids at specific times throughout the day maximizes one’s ability to use amino acids for muscle growth. In fact, the timing and the quality of amino acid supplementation seems more important than the total amount of protein you ingest in a day.

The rationale lies in how the body regulates the rate of protein synthesis (such as building more muscle) and protein breakdown. The regulation is complex, but the idea is very simple. If your body has higher rates of protein synthesis and lower rates of protein breakdown, then in a given day, you have more protein synthesis in your body (in this case, you make more muscle). In other words, if you subtract the rates of protein synthesis minus the rate of protein breakdown and you get a positive (+) answer, then you have a (+) net protein balance. This simply means your body is retaining more protein than it gets rid of in any given day.

However, there has always been controversy as to the optimal amount of protein one should consume in a day. Athletes have always known that they need more protein than the typical “couch potato” but exactly how much has been controversial. The latest research has shown that increasing your protein intake does not necessarily mean you’ll increase protein synthesis. In fact, the body will increase the rate of protein breakdown if protein is consumed in excess. What is more crucial to having a positive (+) net protein balance in active individuals is the timing of nutrient intake around a training session.

Timing is one aspect but the athlete needs to consume specific nutrients in this time frame---mainly, essential amino acids. Essential amino acids or (EAA) are important around the workout period because the body is more likely to use (or utilize) these amino acids for protein accretion (build protein for muscles, from these amino acids). The word “Essential” means that the body needs to acquire these amino acids from the diet and cannot produce on its own. Amino acids that the body can produce de novo, literally from within the body without having to acquire it from the diet, are termed Nonessential Amino Acids (NEAA). Furthermore, EAA needs to be in bioavailable form, i.e. readily absorbed in the gut and into the bloodstream quickly to utilize this metabolic “window of opportunity” to build protein. Hence, the formulation intrinsic to Nitro-E8™ was created for this specific purpose.

Nitro-E8™ is rapidly absorbed and highly bioavailable---the amounts you take in by mouth is almost all absorbed and available in the bloodstream for muscles to grow and build protein in these crucial periods of exercise stress and during any stress for that matter, imposed on the body. Nitro-E8™ is almost like injecting amino acids into your bloodstream! Why are we so confident, because the specific ratios of amino acids in each tablet are the same ratios of amino acids found in human muscle! This is crucial since it is this ratio and the amino acid form that is supported in clinical studies for maximum bioavailability and utilization

Because of the unique formulation of Nitro-E8™, athletes or any active individual can reap the benefits of a (+) Nitrogen Balance, which include but not limited to:

· Enhanced Muscle Mass Gains: if taken with adequate caloric intake and intense training
  ·   Optimization of Training Adaptation and Recovery: through optimal protein synthesis and Lean Body Mass preservation during periods of training stress and reduced caloric intake.
  ·
Inhibition of Muscle Breakdown (catabolism): By providing a rapid bolus of EAA when taken as directed anytime throughout the day, especially after a prolonged fast, intense training activity, or in the morning when catabolic stress hormones are at their peak physiologically.

Nitro-E8™ as a Stand Alone

Nitro-E8™ Should be Taken Immediately after the Last Repetition of the Last Set

Because Nitro-E8™ is in essence a “nitrogen” tablet” the optimal dosage is as much as you can afford. The more the better, however, we want to provide you a recommended minimum/maximum range that can be use to experience surprising results. The magic number has always been 10 tablets.

The suggested use is anywhere between 10 – 30 tablets based on bodyweight.

Body Weight Range
100 – - 140 lbs.   10 tablets per day
141 – 180 lbs   10 to 14 tablets per day
181 – 200 lbs.   10 to 18 tablets per day
201 – 250 lbs.   10 to 20 tablets per day
250 – 300 lbs.   10 to 25 tablets per day
300 lbs +   10 to 30 tablets per day

The above dosage was arrived at using the formula of weight in Kg x 0.2 tabs/kg.

First, convert your weight from pounds (lbs.) into kg by dividing weight in pounds by 2.2. For example, 220 lbs. = 220/2.2 = 100 kg.

To calculate your maximum tablets per day, multiply 100 kg x 0.2 tabs/kg = 20 tablets per day.

Training Days

Now it is important to divide you dosages in two dosages per day on these days on an empty stomach. Take 50% of your total dose (above) in the pre-workout period (within 30 to 45 minutes before your workout and then the other 50% of your total dose post-workout. So for our 220 lbs. athlete above, 10 tablets should be consumed on an empty stomach within 30 to 45 minutes of the workout. The other 10 tablets can be consumed immediately post-workout.
Non-Training Days

The best recommendation is to avoid taking it on the days you don’t train and double up or increase dosage during the time it matters most – immediately after your workout. Otherwise, take half of the daily recommended dosage in the morning upon waking and take the other half before going to bed.

Note: if you do just cardio/aerobics on this day, take half of the daily dose in the morning upon waking up. The other half should be consumed post-cardio (NRG/HIIT –High Intensity Interval Training) session. In our 220 lbs example, 10 tablets should be consumed in the morning and the other 10 tablets either post-cardio session or before bedtime.

An additional strategy to using Nitro-E8™ in conjunction with CHRONO-Nutrition™ can help to maximize net protein balance and anabolic drive during periods of increased training demand, volume, or multiple strength and conditioning/ sport-skill modalities. During strategic times of a training cycle, Nitro-E8™ could be used outside of the “peri-workout” period throughout the day by taking 0.1 tabs/ per Kg bodyweight (50% of the normal dose) and divide it into 5 mini-servings. For example, for a 220lb (100Kg) athlete this additional dose would be 10 tabs taken 2 tabs at a time every 2 hours outside the training window and peri-workout period. This strategy could have a dramatic effect on nitrogen balance and muscle protein synthesis with a “trickle-feed” effect of high-quality essential amino acids. It is imperative to avoid abusing and overusing this technique, as it can loose its effectiveness if used too often and/or for too long. Generally, the strategy could be adopted 4-10 times per year, for 1-3 weeks at a time. There is a large variability and range with this trickle feed technique depending on an individual’s goals, preferences, biochemical/metabolic individuality, training status, etc.

When formulating nutritional supplements in order to optimize their effectiveness, Physicians Pioneering Performance, LLC relies on the following principles/ guidelines:

· Rational Polysupplementation
  ·   CHRONO-Nutrition
  ·
  Restorative Supplementation

A “supplement holiday” or OFF period of 2-3 weeks every 3 months is one method of optimizing supplement performance/efficiency over the long haul. This strategy falls under the umbrella of CHRONO-Nutrition™, and cyclical use of Nitro-E8™ to match training/ sport/ lifestyle demands. PPP has found that a 2 week taper prior to the 2-3 week OFF period with ½ the normal dose makes for an easier transition through the "supplement holiday" (e.g. with Nitro-E8™ taper, 2 servings of 0.075 grams per Kg bodyweight on training days; 1 serving of 0.075g/ Kg of bodyweight on off-days).

On the assumption that Nitro-E8™ is being used as a stand alone supplement, one may consider replacing it with a product like LeuceMine™ or CreaGen™ during the “supplement holiday”.

Before you try to understand how to stack or “polysupplement” Nitro-E8™ with other MNT products refer to the links above to review some of the terms (coined by PPP) used to describe the stacking concepts used with MNT products.

EAA - 10 tabs provides 13.5 grams total of the following amino acids:

Essential Amino Acids

· L-Leucine
  ·   L-Isoleucine
  ·
  L-Valine
· L-Phenylalanine
  ·   L-Lysine
  ·
  L-Methionine
  ·   L-Threonine
  ·
  5HTP

Conditionally Essential Amino Acid

· L-Taurine
  ·   L-Arginine

Non Essential Amino Acids

· Glutamic Acid
L-Tryptophan
Nitro-E8™ substitutes L-Tryptophan (an EAA) with 5HTP a hydroxylated form of the amino acid. This minimizes the clinical side effects inherent in high dose L-Tryptophan such as sedation and GI distress like nausea and vomiting.
L-Arginine, L-Taurine and Glutamic Acid
In addition to EAA, the “conditionally essential” amino acids Arginine, Taurine, and nonessential Glutamic acid and are added to complete the proprietary blend. Arginine and Taurine is “conditionally essential” because active adults during periods of exercise and stress may need to consume these amino acids in the diet to support optimal recovery while sedentary individuals generally can synthesize all the Arginine and Taurine they need from other dietary amino acids. Taurine may be the most voluminous amino acid in Type 2 fibers (the muscle type involved in hypertrophy and strength) helping in muscle cell hydration to help increase its volume and it is certainly the second most abundant amino acid in muscle next to L-Glutamine. L-Arginine has been popularized for its vasodilating properties that may enhance delivery of nutrients to muscles. Glutamic acid can help regenerate glutamine during periods of stress.

The key to Nitro-E8™ is the ratio of the above amino acids relative to each other. Hence, absorption from the gut is maximized and made available in the bloodstream for muscle cell absorption and utilization. The time from oral intake to utilization into muscle happens extremely fast in record time! It is available in the blood stream in as little as 5 minutes and ready for synthesis into muscle making it the fastest dietary protein source we know of. The reason is the high purity and crystalline form of the above amino acids in specific ratios as a whole and to each other. We don’t want to get into making ridiculous or unverifiable claims like, "...Nitro-E8™ increases Net Amino Acid Utilization (NAAU) by 5438%." What we can tell you is that based on our research and review of existing data, we find that the Nitro-E8™ formula in its precise ratios offers amongst the highest Net Amino Acid Utilization (NAAU) opportunities. Specially when compared to all other sources of dietary protein.

It is important to understand that the consumption of “high volume” of protein grams is ultimately not what matters, rather what matters is the percentage of amino acids that is actually utilized by the body for protein synthesis. Hence, Nitro-E8™ provides a tremendously high net amino acid and nitrogen utilization of constituent amino acids that are utilized by the body for protein synthesis; it has an extremely low, in fact, inconsequential percentage of nitrogenous waste product.

Moreover, the high NAAU and the relatively low calories inherent in the formulation compared to other protein sources, much less time is spent by the digestive system to process Nitro-E8™. The time from oral ingestion to utilization by muscles is in the order of minutes not hours compared to dietary meats, chicken, fish etc. As a means of comparison, red meat, poultry or fish can have an NAAU/ NNU 4 to 5 times LESS than Nitro-E8™. That means, as low as 20% to 30% of the amino acids from these protein sources are actually utilized by muscle. The other 70% to 80% of the amino acids provided are metabolic waste. You may have to eat 30 to 40 times the amount of dietary meats like poultry or fish to match the net utilization of amino acids inherent in only 10 tablets of Nitro-E8™!

Now to harness anabolic and/or anti-catabolic potential of Nitro-E8™, you need to consume it on an empty stomach and at specific time periods throughout the day. In other words, use CHRONO-Nutrition™, effective amino acid ratios and dosing strategies to overcome barriers that limit utilization by muscle tissue.
